Where Lemonbudget wins
1. Works outside the US
Monarch Money's bank sync relies on Plaid, which is limited to US and Canadian banks. If you're in Switzerland, the EU, or anywhere else, that core feature simply doesn't work. Lemonbudget is designed for global use from day one — manual entry, multi-currency, and CHF-native pricing.
2. No bank-link requirement
Monarch is built around automatic bank imports. If you'd rather not share bank credentials with a third party, you're fighting the product's design. Lemonbudget is 100% manual entry by design: quick add, receipt OCR, scheduled transactions. Privacy is the default, not an opt-in.
3. Privacy & encryption
Sensitive fields are encrypted with keys derived from your password. We're not zero-knowledge, and we say so — but we go further than standard server-side encryption, and we never connect to your bank.
